A message from the CEO of SMEDAN
These gradings have been created to best explain your business's unique background and product offering, thereby boosting new business and funding opportunities.

Under the leadership of Mr Charles Odii, SMEDAN has brought this concept to Nigeria, the first country in Africa to do so.

What we grade

Six grading areas

Each business is compared with businesses of the same size and industry across six areas. A non-financial grading covers five of them.

Industry & market opportunity

How attractive the business's industry is, and how defensible its position within it.

Business insights

Whether the business can deliver what it sells, reliably, and keep going when something goes wrong.

Management

The depth and experience of the people running the business, and its plans for succession.

Financial

Profitability, liquidity and leverage. Not part of a non-financial grading.

Social media

How findable and verifiable the business is online, and how it engages its customers.

Legal & compliance

Whether the business is properly registered, current with its filings and certified for what it sells.
